Dave Johnson recently reviewed Bokeh on PC Worlds Digital Focus blog. He confesses to using Bokeh to simulate believable lens blur (five-blade, nine-blade, etc.) in past posts. After all, catadioptric lenses are tough to find.

If he’s looking for realistic dept of field lens blur then he would really honestly need to use the quickmask in Photoshop. notice the van in the picture behind the lady, half is blurred and half isn’t, that’s not realistic. in all likelihood the most realistic faux lens blur effects will always have to be done using the quickmask or some variant way. nice program though, especially for miniature/tilt shift stuff.
For sure, the depth of field use of Bokeh requires a very accurate selection. That can be difficult in some cases. I agree that the quickmask mode in Photoshop is useful for making delicate selections.
