If you purchased Snap Art recently then you have version 3 and can skip this article.
If you use Snap Art 2 then please check your version number in the about box. On Windows, start Snap Art 2 and open the Help menu to find the about box. On a Mac, start Snap Art 2 and then go to the Photoshop menu to find the about box.
If your Snap Art 2 version is not 2.1.1.1029 then you need to throw away your old installers and download the latest Windows or Mac version of Snap Art 2.
Older versions use our old activation system which will stop working for Snap Art 2 on February 10, 2012. Snap Art 2 won’t immediately die, but you won’t be able to do a new installation and activate it.
If Snap Art 2 is working for you then you don’t need to reinstall. But if it ever gives you any trouble (like activation errors) then uninstall the old version and run that new installer. Instructions for uninstalling are below.

Is this issue caused by a technical glitch or was this planned as a sort of product sunset provision?
When Snap Art 2 was first released it used a copy protection system licensed from another company. That turned out to be a huge source of bugs, so we created our own system that is much more stable and forgiving. The old system will completely stop working soon, but the simple solution is to get this update that uses our new system.
If you get this update then Snap Art 2 should work far into the future. After a new major version is released we don’t usually work on maintaining old products, but we never do anything to purposely kill them.
What about older versions of Snap Art? I have 1.0.0
I don’t think that Snap Art 1 ever used the buggy copy protection system. If it is working for you now then it should keep on working.
Thanks for the update. I’ll download the other version 2 installers as well. You folks there might want to put them all on a single page.
Thanks for the idea, but we like to have our most recent installers on our download page. We placed a link at the bottom of our download page for all of our older installers. This way, it keeps someone from downloading the wrong file by accident.
